In my work I have always been inspired by our Australian bush and I wanted to highlight our unique and captivating birds, flowers and insects in vibrant colour as the focal point in each piece.
I use white Stoneware clay with each piece kiln fired 3 times: Bisque (1000°), Glaze (1260°) and On-glaze (747°).
My Australian fauna and flora work is made using a variety of both hand building and wheel throwing techniques.
I create gently distorted wheel thrown forms for my bowls.
My flatware uses a Japanese style of forming creating various plate shapes through the pressing of wooden blocks into slab rolled clay.
With the square vases the shape is hand built around wooden columns.
The brooches, pendants and earrings are all made by cutting various shapes & sizes.
Each piece is then finished off with a beautifully produced ceramic decal before the final firing.
